LEGAZPI CITY, Jan 19 (PIA) - Off road drivers and enthusiasts travelled all the way to Panganiran, Pioduran Albay to join and compete in the first off-road invitational game in this province.
The Mayor Arandia Off Road Invitational Game was held on January 16 at the rough terrains of Panganiran, a far-flung barangay in the municipality of Pioduran known for its vast terrain with rivers and streams, and its scenic Buhawi hills.
The only way to reach the barangay is by cruising the almost 15 km Panganiran river.
Albay 3rd District Congressman Fernando Cabredo commended the provincial government of Pioduran led by Mayor Alan Arandia for this initiative to boost development and tourism in the countryside.
"This event is an opportunity to attract development and promote tourism in Pioduran and also the 3rd District of Albay," Cabredo said.
Cabredo expressed his support to conduct a larger extreme sports event in the area, citing that they are looking forward to a national or even an international event to attract more off-road participants from different parts of the world.
Together with Mayor Arandia, Cabredo said they are hoping to drive more tourists in Panganiran to boost tourism and economic development for more livelihood opportunities that will surely uplift the living conditions of the residents of Panganiran and its nearby barangays.
Panganiran is one of the priority far-flung barangays visited during the Serbisyo Caravan and Barangayan 2020 which brought government services closer to the people, as part of the Retooled Community Support Program (RCSP) for the Executive Order 20 in institutionalizing the whole-of-nation approach to end local armed conflict in the country (ELCAC).
