A record five SEC teams are among the eight-team field that will begin play at the College World Series in Omaha, Neb., on Friday.

With No. 1 UCLA and No. 2 Georgia Tech failing to make it out of the Regional round, No. 3 Georgia was the highest-ranked team that advanced to the Super Regionals. The Bulldogs then swept Mississippi State to advance to the College World Series for the first time since 2008.

They will be joined in Omaha by SEC rivals No. 6 Texas, No. 7 Alabama and unranked Ole Miss and Oklahoma. All advanced through the Super Regionals with series sweeps, with Ole Miss knocking off No. 4 Auburn and Oklahoma upsetting No. 15 Kansas on the road.

There will be a new champion with LSU also eliminated. The most recent team remaining to win a national title was Ole Miss in 2022, when the Rebels beat Oklahoma in the title game. Before that, it goes back to Texas in 2005, and the Longhorns will be making their record 39th CWS appearance.

Alabama, Troy, No. 5 North Carolina and No. 16 West Virginia are each seeking their first CWS titles. The Mountaineers were the first team to punch their ticket to Omaha this year with a sweep over Cal Poly at home.

Troy is the only program from outside the Power 4. The Trojans needed an at-large bid just to make the Regional round, then went to Gainesville to beat Florida twice to advance. They then went on to sweep Little Rock by a combined score of 19-4 in the Super Regionals.

Only five of the top 16 national seeds managed to reach Omaha, equaling the number from last season. And none of the teams from last year's CWS managed to advance past the Regional round in 2026.
